41 y/o Female
The patient, a 41-year-old female, reported primary concerns of TMJ/jaw pain, snoring, grinding, and allergies in her initial paperwork and during intake. In her final responses, she indicated that her TMJ/jaw pain is non-existent, which is directly related to her cessation of nocturnal grinding. The snore recordings show a significant reduction in snoring events (15 separate snore events initially to 3 snoring events in the final recording), resulting in improved sleep quality. Additionally, she reports that she no longer experiences any usual allergies.
14 y/o Male
A young male patient, aged 14, presented with primary concerns of jaw pain and allergies. Upon follow-up, he reported that his TMJ/jaw pain is now non-existent. He also noted an improvement in his asthma. Previously, his asthma affected his stamina such that he could only run half a lap in gym class before needing to stop to catch his breath. He now can run 2 laps before needing to stop.
He also indicated that he has not experienced the same level of seasonal allergies as he did before therapy. Additionally, according to his symptom tracker, the following symptoms have greatly improved from frequently or always occurring to rarely or never: blocked/runny nose, difficulty concentrating, sweaty hands/feet, fidgeting, and throat clearing.

The initial concerns upon intake were mouth breathing and speech difficulties. The Symptom Tracker indicated a 62% improvement in sleep-related symptoms. Both the patient and her mother reported that she is nasal breathing during the day, and her mother noted that she is predominantly nasal breathing at night. Additionally, her mother stated that she has successfully completed Speech Therapy at school.

In February this year, I began a Myofunctional Therapy program after checking every box on the symptom tracker. I was headed for a CPAP eventually. Throughout the therapy, my symptom score decreased from 43 to 0. I had the best experience, and I highly recommend Myofunctional Therapy.
Here's my official testimony:
Stina Wilburn provided a transformative experience for me through Myofunctional Therapy. Her ability not only to guide me in performing the exercises effectively but also to explain the underlying mechanics was key to my understanding and progress. I achieved significant improvements, from sleeping soundly without external aids such as melatonin or appliances to addressing a range of symptoms like daily headaches and jaw clenching.
My success story is a testament to the value of
Myofunctional Therapy and how it can lead to lasting,
automatic changes in the body.” [Audra L.]
“You know how people are taping their mouths shut to get better sleep? Lots of people use CPAP machines, take melatonin, wake multiple times a night, or wake up exhausted with a headache. If that sounds familiar, this is for you."

“Myofunctional Therapy was very helpful for me. I had TMJ issues and was having jaw and neck pain. Shortly after starting I could tell the difference. About one month in I was no longer having neck pain. Shortly after that my jaw pain was gone. Stina is a great teacher and explains the exercises very well. She is easy to talk to, and the therapy was never too much to get done while doing everyday things.” [Josh P.]
"I would recommend this to anyone."
“I cannot thank Stina enough for her guidance and passion for Myofunctional Therapy. Before starting this journey, I was unsure what the missing piece of the puzzle was for my improved overall health. I was missing a key part of life without Myofunctional Therapy.
Doing this program has improved my chewing, sleeping, breathing, and digestion. Over the years, my body had learned to rely on other muscles, which created poor habits. Myofunctional Therapy has helped correct all my dysfunctions and put me back on track. Thank you for all you have done in educating me and keeping me on track with the exercises!”

About a year ago, I began to notice my jaw was popping every time I chewed anything and it was becoming painful. My face, in the jaw area, also began aching when I got up in the morning. I even had this burning, stabbing pain that felt like it was deep down in my ear. I talked to my husband because the pain got more intense and my jaw locked. I had already modified what I was eating because it hurt to chew and I couldn’t get my mouth open very much. We were both concerned about what could be going on so I went to see Dr. Lambert and she did scans of my face which showed that I had a lot of arthritis and my jaw bones had deteriorated. In short, it was a bad case of TMJ.

There’s not a lot that could be done medically but I was able to get an ultrasound guided steroid shot in my jaw that helped with the shooting pains from my jaw down into my ear and a mouth guard to help with clinching my teeth at night. The shooting pain in my ear became a dull ache and everything else remained the same after the injection. It was becoming unbearable so I decided that myofunctional therapy with Stina would be my next step.
I knew that Stina truly cares for people and wants to help them through this therapy so I trusted her when she told me she could make a difference. When we got started, Stina gave me an overview of what myofunctional therapy is and we talked about what my
goals were. She took measurements and pics so we could track my progress. Each week I met with Stina, she explained each exercise and did them with me to make sure I was doing them properly. We talked about how the exercises would strengthen different areas of my mouth and how it would all work together to help me reach my goals. I have to admit that I got discouraged along the way but by week 9 I noticed real change. Measurements were done and there was real change! I am almost to the end of my sessions with Stina and I am now pain free and my mouth opens normally! I still wear my mouth guard and do the things I have learned because I don’t want to regress. If Stina believes she can help you with myofunctional therapy, I encourage you to do it. It has changed my quality of life and I am forever grateful. [Detria T.]

The exercises and education that Stina provided was so helpful. I had problems with TMJ disfunction and clenching during the day and night (which didn’t help the TMJ at all.) I learned about proper tongue placement and completed the exercises each week as instructed and within the first few weeks of treatment my bite felt better (my bite had felt crooked prior) and I had less discomfort (prior to therapy I had a numb type feeling on the left side and lower left side of my face) with that numb feeling eventually dissipating over time. Along the way and through some of the more challenging exercises we realized I had weakened muscles toward the back of my throat (as in the ones that help you swallow) and so I was able to concentrate on that as well.
Also, one of the great things about the program is that the tools and exercises you learn can help you for the rest of your life; all you need to do is spend a little time throughout your day to be mindful and deliberate in the way you breath chew swallow and place your tongue and practice your exercises and you can have long term improvements. Thanks Stina!!

Since I have been in the Myofunctional Therapy Program, I have experienced much relief from TMJ.
In February 2026, I had an episode of TMJ pain that landed me in the doctor's office. Steroid shots and medications provided relief. However, I continued to have unexpected episodes of jaw pain, especially at night. For this reason, I could not sleep but a few hours.
I heard about the Myofunctional Therapy Program from a neighbor. I knew I needed this therapy. For about 5 weeks I have been doing the program and the exercises. It has paid off. I have been sleeping 6 hours most every night, with no pain. Also, I have
been able to chew better and my ability to eat has improved.
Most importantly, I can recognize any signs of possible jaw disfunction. When I do, I immediately do some of the exercises. The exercises help prevent pain and dysfunction. I look forward to continuing with the program. I would highly recommend this program to anyone suffering with similar issues.

"I came to Stina with severe TMJ pain on the left side of my face. I had suffered for
years, with no thought of relief. No one had ever told me that there were therapy
techniques to help with correct facial muscle use. I had been clenching my teeth,
sometimes without even realizing what I was doing, for many years. It was causing so much tension and pain in my jaw.
At the start of our sessions, Stina let me know that it would take daily exercise to
correct. Our in-office sessions alone, wouldn’t do what was necessary. I followed her
instructions and found relief within a couple of weeks. I continued to improve
throughout the program and I’m very happy to say that I no longer find myself clenching my teeth together. The jaw pain is gone and I’m a very happy patient!"
